Glasgow to host 2030 International Congress of Mathematicians

The General Assembly of the International Mathematical Union (IMU) has decided that the next International Congress of Mathematicians will be hosted in Glasgow, UK!

Glasgow's bid (see video below) is built on three principles: that participants are more important than the host, that participants should be collaborating, not commuting, and that maths is internationally collaborative. The ICM 2030 will be a "2km congress, in which all mathematical venues are within the 250m radius of the publicly owned Scottish Event Campus (SEC), and all wider hotels, bars, restaurants, and social activity venues are within a 2km radius." The General Assembly of the IMU, which always precedes the ICM, will be held in Dublin, so it's a multi-country bid.

While we are enjoying the start of this year's ICM in Philadelphia, we're celebrating that next time around the ICM will be on our home soil! Congratulations Glasgow!
